Before you commence on your adventure in Nepal, you must equip yourself with all the essential details for an enjoyable and hassle-free experience. Preparing for Your Nepal Adventure

1. Essential Travel Preparations:

    • Check Passport Validity: Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned travel dates.
    • Visa Requirements: You can check your Nepal visa requirements at your nearest Nepalese Embassy or Consulate. Most countries are eligible for an on-arrival visa upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
    • Travel Documents: Keep a copy of your passport, visa, and permits separate from the originals. Also, carry your booking confirmation or payment receipt.
    • Flights: Check and confirm your international and domestic flights. For a smooth departure, arrive at the airport at least three hours before your scheduled flight.

In case of emergencies, such as missed flights or delays, contact: Give your family and friends our contact details for their peace of mind.

Travel Tips

Local Currency:

Nepalese Rupee (NPR) is the official currency. ATMs are available in major cities, but rural areas may have limited access. So, it is best to exchange currency while in the city area. You need to carry cash for small and personal expenses during the trip.

Suggested Budget:

For meals, snacks, and tips, allocate approximately NPR 5,000–8,000 per week. Example costs:
    • Tea/Coffee: NPR 50-250
    • Local Meal: NPR 300-600
    • Dinner (Restaurant): NPR 1,000-1,500

Packing Guidelines:

Travel light. For multi-day trips, bring:
    • Breathable clothing (lightweight and changeable)
    • Comfortable trekking or hiking shoes
    • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
    • Lightweight rain jacket and warm layers
    • A 15–20L daypack for daily essentials

Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory for trekking and rafting in Nepal. It provides a financial safety net against the inherent risks during the journey. The travel insurance must cover medical and emergency expenses, such as helicopter evacuation assistance. It must also cover trip delays/cancellations and baggage loss/ damage. Raftrek Nepal provides basic insurance, but all participants are highly advised to add personal coverage.

Our experienced and certified guides prioritize your safety while ensuring an unforgettable adventure. They are fluent in English and have more than 15 years of experience.
