Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Surkhet

The Karnali White Water Rafting & Kayaking Expedition begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Surkhet. You will drive on the winding mountain road, passing by charming countryside, terrace farms, rivers, rolling hills, and the Terai plains. You will drive alongside the Trishuli River and head towards Surkhet. It takes around 16 hours of driving to reach the destination, depending on the road conditions. En route, you will make several stops for meals and refreshments. Upon reaching Surkhet, you will spend the night there and prepare for the rafting trip ahead.

Day 2: Drive from Surkhet to Dhungeshwor (Put-in Point)

Duration: 6 – 7 hours

Overnight Camp: Dhungeshwor

On this day, you will drive from Surkhet to Dhungeshwor after breakfast. Depending on the road condition, it will take 6 to 7 hours. You will mostly drive on the rough and unpaved road, so prepare for a bumpy ride. The winding road takes you past remote villages. You will have the opportunity to explore remote villages and witness breathtaking landscapes. Dhungeshwor serves as the put-in point for our rafting and kayaking expedition. Upon reaching here, you will also meet with your rafting crew and guides.

Day 3: Rafting begins - First Rapids Encounter

After breakfast, your preparation for the rafting begins. Your expert guide will provide you with safety briefings, guidelines, and paddling techniques to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Once everyone is prepared, you will make your way to the river for your first major rapid or “1st Inquiry.” You will get your first adrenaline-pumping rafting experience in the iconic Karnali River. It is the best way to begin the rafting expedition. In the evening, you will camp by the riverside under the stars.

Day 4: Big Water Adventure Begins!

Overnight Stay: Riverside Camp

Today is the day, your big water adventure begins! After breakfast at your campsite, you will head towards the Karnali River. The river flows through dense jungle, towering cliffs, and remote rural areas. As you paddle ahead, you will tackle back-to-back powerful rapids like the Jailhouse. After the intense and exciting roller-coaster white water experience, you will rest overnight at a riverside camp.

Day 5: Rapids Galore & Confluence of Seti Beni

Overnight Stay: Camp at Seti Beni confluence (scenic riverside stay)

You will start your fifth day of the expedition with a relaxing breakfast at the riverside camp. Then, you will head down to the river and begin your thrilling rafting on the Karnali River. You will ride on the non-stop white water rapids, right through subtropical forests, gorges, and cliffs. The waves are powerful and strong, and you will tackle intense rapids like God House, Juicer, and Flip & Strip. Likewise, you will paddle through narrow channels to reach the Seti Beni confluence. You may also spot some freshwater gharias and dolphins as you head towards your campsite. Tonight, you will camp at the scenic riverside at the Seti Beni confluence.

Day 6: Rest & Exploration at Seti Beni

Overnight Stay: Same camp at Seti Beni

You will take a rest day today to take a break from the back-to-back rafting adventure. Today you will have time to explore Seti Beni. You can take a short excursion, go fishing, or swim at the riverside. Likewise, you can relax in the serene atmosphere while enjoying the scenery and recharge for the next rafting section.

Day 7: Journey to Jamuna Village

Overnight Stay: Jamuna Village (camp on a stunning sandy beach)

With a relaxing day at Seti Beni, you will continue with your rafting journey. Today, you will mostly tackle moderate but fun and exciting rapids. It gives you an opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the way. You will witness scenic views of the towering cliffs and raw wilderness. Similarly, you may also have the opportunity to spot various wildlife and bird species. As you approach Jamuna Village, you can observe traditional homes and terraced farms. In the evening, you will camp on a stunning sandy beach at the riverside of the Jamuna Village.

Day 8: Relaxing Float & Scenic Beauty

Overnight Stay: Jamuna Village (camp on a stunning sandy beach)

You will take a relaxing float day today and raft in calm waters with gentle rapids. It will give you an opportunity to unwind and soak in the scenic beauty of the surroundings. In the evening, you will enjoy the campfire and storytelling night.

Day 9: Towards the Bheri Confluence

Overnight Stay: Above the Bheri confluence

The Karnali white water rafting & kayaking is coming to its final stretch. Today, you will continue rafting down the Karnali River from the riverside beach at the Jamuna River. It is a relatively slow-paced rafting experience, so you will enjoy relaxed paddling. Similarly, you can also witness beautiful scenery and spot some wildlife along the way. The rapids will decrease gradually as you approach the Bheri confluence. In the evening, you will camp above the Bheri confluence.

Day 10: Final Rafting Stretch & Trip Ends at Chispani

Today is the final day of the expedition. For the final rafting stretch, you will paddle through the calm and slow-moving Karnali River. Chisapani is the take-out point of your rafting adventure, and your trip ends here. You can drive back to Kathmandu or fly back to the capital city from Nepalgunj.
